We went to dinner at the little japanese restaurant in our building tonight, expecting a quiet meal before bed. While we were eating a slightly tipsy Japanese business man came over to our table and started asking us questions in English. He then asked us to join his table and as we were still eating I said as politely as I could, “Maybe afterwards”. Once we finished and settled the bill we hesitantly went over to their table I am so so glad that we did! We had the most amazing night and met some of the loveliest people ever. They were so thankful for our visit to Japan and their customary Japanese hospitality meant that they bought us drinks all night. When I offered to pay for our share our friend Kakehi simply said “You are my guest, we are welcoming you to Japan.” We talked about all sorts of things like why we came here and our backgrounds etc and he kept saying that he appreciated us talking to them in English and that it was so good that we had decided to visit his country. He was a debating instructor and so he kept asking specific questions about our motivations to visit, and we were more than happy to oblige.
Anyway, I am a little bit tipsy and rambling but I just wanted to say that we had a marvellous night all thanks to a Japanese business man and his lovely, welcoming friends ;D SUGOI!
